Joseph Beadle
Mandarin Tutor

Educated at Harvard and Cambridge Universities, Joe is a fluent Mandarin speaker, researcher, and experienced teacher. He graduated with Double Starred First Class honours in Chinese Studies from Cambridge (ranked first in the year), where he was also awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Social Impact for his charity and outreach work. He pursued his postgraduate studies at MIT and Harvard, where he also gave lectures and taught undergraduates as part of a philosophy class on mental health. Previously, Joe spent a year in Taiwan, studying at a university, working for an NGO, teaching in local schools, living in a Buddhist monastery, and touring as a pianist in a jazz band.
Joe is a warm, patient, and caring teacher, determined to help students to build their confidence and reach their goals. He has worked for diverse education projects in the UK, US, Taiwan, Mainland China, and Japan. Besides teaching and studying, Joe is an accomplished musician, with experience performing in top venues on national television and radio in the UK and abroad. His other passions are charity fundraising, travelling, and learning languages (as well as Mandarin, he speaks French, Spanish, Japanese, and a little Kinyarwanda).
Joe is delighted to teach Chinese language & culture, English, French, Spanish, university preparation, and more to students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, whether they be learning for fun, school, exams, or business.

Yue Yin
Mandarin Tutor
Yue is a qualified language teacher (QTS, PGCE in Mandarin and Spanish) with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. She has extensive experience teaching Chinese from KS3–KS5 in the UK and in international schools in Shanghai. She is highly familiar with GCSE, IGCSE, A-level, and HSK curricula, and has also provided private high-end tutoring for a primary-aged child in Shanghai, delivering both Mandarin and English with a companion-style approach. Yue specialises in immersive and engaging lessons, weaving in varied activities and cultural knowledge to motivate learners and build confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Katarina Cao
Mandarin Tutor

Katarina is an IB/IGCSE/A Level/AP Mandarin Chinese Tutor with over 5,000 hours of Mandarin tutoring experience.. She is a native speaker born and grew up in Beijing. She graduated from Peking University with a Bachelor degree in English Language and Literature. She got her Mphil degree in Chinese Literature from the University of Hong Kong. Katarina used to work for an international school in Hong Kong and has been teaching IB/IGCSE Mandarin Chinese for more than 10 years . She used a variety of teaching methods in the classroom, such as grammar-translation, the communicative approach and task-based learning. She also worked as a full-time home school teacher for 3 years in the Peak residential district in Hong Kong. Katarina has a profound understanding of different curriculums, including Cambridge IGCSE, Pearson Edexcel, IB and AP. Her students have been from Eton College (Windsor), English Schools Foundations (ESF), The Independent Schools Foundation (ISF) Chinese International (CIS) , German Swiss International, Victorian Shanghai Academy, St.Paul's Co-educational College, Diocesan Girls' School, and the Diocesan Boys’ School.

Harry Keyte is a professional Mandarin Chinese tutor based in London with over 10,000 hours of experience providing Mandarin Chinese lessons. Harry founded Manhattan Mandarin UK in 2022 after seven great years of teaching Mandarin in NYC. He has run the after school Mandarin programs and taught at St. Bernard's, Buckley, Chapin, Spence, and Allen-Stevenson. He grew up in New York City, where he attended St. Bernard’s and Trinity School. Since completing two intensive CET Mandarin language programs in Shanghai and Beijing, Harry has greatly enjoyed helping non-heritage and heritage Mandarin students of all ages and levels master a language that he too once was daunted by! Harry is greatly suited for helping beginner and non-native speakers tackle their early Mandarin challenges while making lessons fun.
Harry is available for in-person, in-office, and remote private Mandarin lessons in London, GCSE Chinese tutoring, as well as general Mandarin lessons for students of all ages and levels. Harry teaches the HSK 1 and HSK 2 Adult Beginner Mandarin Chinese Classes in Marylebone. He is also highly experienced in providing in-office beginner Mandarin lessons for businesswomen and men.

Jenny
Mandarin Tutor

Jenny is a UK-qualified Mandarin teacher with a first-class degree in Chinese Language and Literature and a PGCE in Mandarin from UCL. She has over a decade of classroom experience, having taught Mandarin in both grammar and private schools across the UK. Jenny is highly familiar with the GCSE (AQA and iGCSE), A-Level, and IB Mandarin curricula, and her students consistently achieve outstanding results—including a 90% A* rate in 2022 and 100% grade 9s in 2023.
In addition to her school teaching, Jenny also delivers HSK courses to adult learners. Most of her students reach HSK2 within a year with weekly lessons, and some progress to HSK3 through intensive training. She creates her own tailored resources, designed to strengthen exam skills while also building practical communication abilities.
Known for her enthusiastic, passionate, and lively teaching style, Jenny creates fun, learner-centred lessons adapted to each student’s level and goals. She is confident using online tools such as Google Classroom, Jamboard, Quizlet, and Kahoot to ensure engaging and effective learning wherever her students are based.
